For nearly 20 years, the San Antonio Business Journal (SABJ) has been honoring employers in San Antonio that have a strong commitment to creating positive work environments that foster respect, comfort and engagement of its employees. To be eligible, a company or organization, must have at least 10 full-time employees based in Bexar, Bandera, Comal, Guadalupe, Wilson, Atascosa, Bandera or Kendall county.

Employers are able to nominate themselves and honorees are chosen based on employee survey provided by Quantum Workplace. In order to qualify as a finalist, a certain percentage of employees must participate in the survey. The responses are kept anonymous and are used to score the company and provide a final ranking.

Each of the employers represented with the award are helping to show that creating an environment that’s fun and fulfilling to work in is a path toward better productivity and, in turn, success.

In 2019, Employer Flexible in San Antonio reached 10 employees, making us eligible to participate in the survey. While this was our first year, we did great and placed 4th in the small business category. Employer Flexible strives to keep the employee experiences consistent throughout its various locations, however the San Antonio office prides itself on the family like comradery it exemplifies. This office leads by example and we were thrilled to be recognized.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining a strong work culture has never been more difficult or more important. Keeping employees working from home, engaged and connected with each other — while they also navigate many other struggles, is a challenge employers have never experienced before. No matter the size of the business, sustaining a happy workforce is a key to success.
